Botox Anti-Wrinkle Injections Winchester

At Sparx we use Botox® which is a highly diluted form of the neurotoxin protein botulinum. A minuscule amount will be injected by our highly trained team into selected muscles to temporarily relax those muscles.

Botox is often used to soften horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, the frown lines between the eyebrows, and crows feet lines around the eyes.  It can also be used to soften lines around the mouth, tackle drooping eyebrows, to elevate the corners of a sagging, downturned mouth.  

Botox can also be used to improve the appearance of sagging jowls and a saggy or crepey neck in a treatment often known as a Nefertiti facelift.  In addition, Botox is an effective treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and can help people who suffer from headaches and migraines. 

Most people need only one treatment session and return for a further treatment once it wears off.  This will usually be between three and six months later.

We aim to keep discomfort to a minimum and can apply a topical anaesthetic cream before treatment, if needed.

Most people see the full effect around 3-10 days after their treatment.

The effect usually lasts for between three and six months, after which your muscles will gradually regain their strength and the wrinkles will return.  At this point you can come back for further treatments to restore the effects.

Botulinum toxin type A was introduced in clinical practice in the 1970s and 1980s to treat squints and blepharospasm.  After formal trials, on April 12 2002, the FDA announced regulatory approval of botulinum toxin type A to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).

A small percentage of people may notice a slight droopiness of the eyelid or eyebrow but this should be back to normal within 2 weeks. Patients who are taking aspirin or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) may experience slight bruising.
