Why is it important to skin test prior to a tinting service?

Skin Testing Before Tinting Services at Sparx Beauty Salon in Winchester

At Sparx we care about our clients comfort and safety, that is why we have a skin testing policy in place. Skin testing is very important and should be carried out prior to having your eye lash tint or eyebrow tinting treatment. This is due to the potential risks associated with an active ingredient found in most dyes, known as ‘PPD’ (paraphenylenediamine).

On occasion PPD has been proven to cause allergic reactions to hypersensitive individuals, causing very uncomfortable symptoms such as blistering of the skin, infection and soft tissue swelling (as pictured).

In some severe cases reactions can be life threatening with allergic responses developing at any time, even if you have had your eye lashes or brows tinting for years. The simplest way to avoid a severe allergic reaction is to have a skin/tint test at Sparx Beauty Salon in Winchester.

A skin test is simple and quick. All you have to do is pop into our Winchester beauty salon and a member of our skilled team will dot a small amount of tint behind your ear. The test has to be carried out at least 48 hours prior to your treatment to ensure you do not have an allergic reaction to the tint. It is recommended to repeat the test if you do have a eyelash or eyebrow service for a length of time, or if your health has changed.
