What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is a very common condition which causes lumpy and dimpled flesh to appear on the thighs, hips, buttocks and stomach. It is caused by an accumulation of fats and fluids in the cells beneath the skin's surface. These cells push up against the skin's surface, whilst at the same time, the fibres which tether the skin to the muscles pull down. This creates an uneven, dimpled effect on the surface.
Types of Cellulite
- Soft Cellulite is characterised by sagging, uneven skin. It's often found on areas of the body where fat accumulates, such as the arms, stomach, thighs, hips and buttocks. It's often known as orange peel skin.
- Compact Cellulite is sometimes known as mattress skin. It can affect everyone, including those with a slim and toned physique. It is often found on the thighs, buttocks and hips and is characterised by more marked depressions and blemishes. It can feel very hard and painful when touched.
- Edematous Cellulite is a less common type. Caused by poor circulation, it results in fluid and toxin retention. It is difficult to treat and can result in heavy, swollen legs.

How does Shape Define work?
