What Is Dehydrated Skin?
As the name suggests, dehydrated skin is due to the skin lacking water. This can happen to anyone, no matter your skin type – whether you have oily, combination or acne prone skin, your skin can still become dehydrated. Skin that is dehydrated has a changed appearance as it will look dull and can potentially show early signs of aging like wrinkles & loss of elasticity. Dehydrated skin may also feel irritated & itchy. Some reasons you may be experiencing dehydrated skin are that you are not drinking enough water or you are being exposed to harsh weather conditions such as too much sun or cold weather.
If you are unsure whether you are suffering from dehydrated skin, you can check by pinching a small area of the skin on your cheek gently for a few seconds. If your skin shows elasticity and falls back into place then your skin most likely isn’t dehydrated. However, if your skin takes a few seconds before it bounces back into place then it is probably dehydrated.
How Do I Treat Dehydrated Skin?
Drinking more water is not enough to solve your dehydrated or dry skin problems! You will need a new, hydrating skincare routine that will restore and repair your skin’s hydration issues. Don’t know what products to use? Don’t worry, Sparx Beauty is here to help! We sell all the products listed below in our online shop.
Step 1: Use A Cleanser
Keeping your skin clean is an important part of any skincare routine as it provides a clean slate to apply your other products onto. For dry or dehydrated skin, you should use a gentle cleanser such as SensiCalm which is an Alumier cleanser that specifically hydrates your skin. This hydrating cleanser is delicate on your skin as it removes impurities whilst having a calming effect as the ingredient Aloe soothes your skin & reduces redness.
Step 2: Apply A Hydrating Serum
Serums are a great way to target skin issues such as dehydration or dryness. The best serum for dry & dehydrated skin is the Ultimate Boost Serum. As the name states, this lightweight serum provides an ‘ultimate boost’ of hydration and enhances the skin’s natural ability to deal with dryness & dehydration. It also improves elasticity & strengthens your skin which results in reducing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles, whilst helping to protect your skin from future damage! The Ultimate Boost Serum has all these benefits as well as being the perfect product to use as a booster under moisturiser.
Step 3: Don’t Forget To Moisturise!
If your skin type is combination or oily but you’re dealing with dehydrated skin, you will likely find that after applying our Ultimate Boost Serum, you won’t need to add moisturiser on top as your skin will feel hydrated & rejuvenated. However, if your skin type is dry then we recommend you use the HydraDew Moisturizer as well. This moisturiser is specifically for dry skin and helps strengthen skin whilst reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. We also stock other Alumier moisturisers that focus on different skin types, just check out our shop here. You should apply your moisturiser to your face and neck twice a day, morning and evening after using your cleanser.
Step 4: At Home Hydration Kit
Although this step isn’t strictly necessary, it’s a great way to deal with dry & dehydrated skin as it comes in a kit with everything you need! The At Home Hydration Kit includes an Aqua Infusion Mask which is a lightweight & oil-free mask that is a relaxing way to hydrate your skin, & an Application Brush is provided so that you can apply the Aqua Infusion Mask easily & evenly like a professional! The kit also includes Bright & Clear Solution which exfoliates your skin, leaving it feeling silky smooth. The Eye Rescue Pad Sachet is also part of the At Home Hydration Kit which helps to reduce puffiness & fine lines around the eye area with moisturising & hydrating properties. Kick back and relax whilst dealing with your dry & dehydrated skin from the comfort of your own home.
